Those who read Safeware Quasar’s article on Annex VIII will be aware The European Commission has published a proposed annex to Regulation 1272/2008 (Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation), Article 45. This introduces the requirement for all EU Member States to appoint a body to receive data relating to health and physical hazards. Further to this, the Member States must submit such information in a harmonised manner.
Jan Robinson, Director Product Regulations at CEPE and chairman of DUCC, will be reviewing the new annex (Annex VIII to CLP) and related implementation studies. Jan will also reflect on the benefits and impacts of the new requirements for industry.
Jan joined CEPE, an organisation representing the paint, printing inks and artists’ colours companies, in 2010 as the Director Product Regulations. Jan’s portfolio of responsibilities covers many aspects of chemical regulatory compliance, to include regulatory communication and advocacy for CEPE members, the classification and labelling, the compilation of safety data sheets (SDSs), Exposure Scenarios (ESs), and the transport of dangerous goods. In addition, Jan was appointed as the Chairman of DUCC in January 2016.
Simon Robinson, our SafeCom chairman, said of Jan’s presentation:
“The standardised submission of chemical data to an appointed body has been a focus for the European Commission for some years now. The introduction of the proposed annex (Annex VIII to CLP) is a significant step towards harmonisation across the EU and we think those involved in the chemical sector would benefit largely from learning more.
We are extremely pleased to have an expert such as Jan Robinson present a paper for our SafeCom 2016 delegates, she has a wealth of experience and knowledge in this area of the regulations and her review will certainly clarify the objectives and requirements of Article 45 of CLP. “
Jan joins a host of industry experts for what’s set to be another extremely informative and valuable SafeCom programme.
